Our Story

In 1960, Dr. L. H. Ashcraft and his family arrived in Monterrey, Mexico with a desire to build a work for the Lord. The early years of this ministry we fruitful. The Ashcrafts learned the Spanish language, and many souls were saved through the preaching of the gospel.
First one mission was begun and as it grew was organized into a church. Then, the Lord opened another area of the city and another church was started. Dr. L. H. Ashcraft realized the need to have Bible Institute to train workers for the feild, so classes were begun in 1963.
Opportunities to go into the unevangelized areas with the gospel provided yet another was to serve the Lord. Soon, mission stations were esteblished in the mountain valleys surrounding Monterrey. The family worked as a unit in each phase of the ministry during these years.
New Testament churches with built and under the leadership of Dr. L. H. Ashcraft, young, national pastors began building sound, indigenous, independent, Baptist churches with Sunday School attendance averaging over 2000 in 1980. These churches supported their pastors, build their buildings, and sent missionaries to other regions.
The primary goal of all Mount Hebron Ministries was to build New Testament churches as set forth in Matthew 28:18-20
The training ministries, under the direction of Dr. Tommy Ashcraft supplied workers for all of Mount Hebron. Mount Hebron Bible Baptist Institute offered a four year course of study to young Mexican men and women who desired to serve the Lord in full-time service. Graduates of this school now pastored churches in Monterrey, they were missionaries to their own people in other states, Sunday School teachers and workers, music directors and Bible institute professors.
Up to this point, Mount Hebron as a ministry without a church. Yes, there was a sending church in the States, but there was not one local church in Mexico under which the institute and it’s sister ministries could operate.
In 1982, Dr. Tommy Ashcraft founded Mounte Hebron Baptist Church. Since the church’s organization, souls have been saved every week, converts have been baptized almost every Sunday, and student preachers have been trained with first-hand experience. the church has had a high attendance of over 2000, and average a high of over 700 in Sunday School.
Mount Hebron Baptist Church is located in El Barrial, a small “colonia” 12 miles south of the Monterrey city limits. Each week scores of Sunday School teachers and bus workers go into this city of over four million. They Go door to door, soul-winning and bring converts to the church. Literally thousands of people have been led to the Lord through their efforts, but multitudes remain unreached.
